ABOUT COURSE

M.Sc Nursing is a Post Graduate Degree Course offered by the University of Jammu. The duration of the course is 2 years. The program is designed to offer advanced nursing education with clinical and theoretical expertise to prepare students for leadership roles in the healthcare system.

ELIGIBILITY

• The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
• Should have passed B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
• Must have studied in an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
• Minimum of one year work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
• Sex: Male/Female
• Candidate must be medically fit and possess good health, mental and moral character.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED

• All qualification original certificates with 2 sets of Photostat copies
• Registration certificate of the State Nursing Council
• Certificates of Higher Education (if any)
• State Domicile/Nationality Certificate
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• 12 Passport size photographs
• Transfer Certificate & Migration Certificate (for candidates from universities other than Jammu University)
• Conduct Certificate
• Health Fitness Certificate

SELECTION FOR ADMISSION

Total number of seats for M.Sc. Nursing is 25. Admissions are made through an entrance examination conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Examination (BOPEE), except for Management Seats.

COURSE OF INSTRUCTION

First Year M.Sc Nursing

• Nursing Education – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 150 hrs
• Advance Nursing Practice – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 200 hrs
• Nursing Research and Statistics – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 100 hrs
• Clinical Speciality – I – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 650 hrs
• Total Hours: 1700 hrs

Second Year M.Sc Nursing

• Nursing Management – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 150 hrs
• Nursing Research (Dissertation) – Practical: 300 hrs
• Clinical Speciality – II – Theory: 150 hrs, Practical: 950 hrs
• Total Hours: 1700 hrs

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

The examinations, both theory and practical, are conducted annually by the University of Jammu. Two internal examinations are also conducted by the college (theory and practical) to guide students. Additionally, unit tests are conducted regularly.

FEE STRUCTURE

• Examination, Eligibility (if applicable), Hostel, Transport, and other certification fees are charged separately.
• Any additional applicable fees not covered above will also be charged.
• Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
• Please obtain a cash receipt after payment. Payments without receipts will not be entertained later.
